Newborn Care FAQs
When does my newborn have their first checkup?
Your new baby's first checkup will be 1-2 days after leaving the hospital. This checkup is a comprehensive exam to make sure they’re growing and developing normally. During the checkup, we will:
- Check your baby’s weight, length, and head circumference
- Evaluate your baby’s feeding, bowel, and sleeping habits
- Does a physical examination, including an eye exam
- Performs a developmental evaluation
- Offer breast feeding assistance
This visit also gives you time to ask questions such as when and how to bathe your baby, questions about feeding and sleep schedules, or any other concerns.
